We are pleased to have a very fine group of Advisory Board
members. This prestigious board represents the multi-faceted
medical and business communities. Each member providing
direction with his or her own professional expertise.
Board of Directors:
Jane Tobal is the founder of Visionary Alternatives, Inc.
Critically ill twice as an infant; Jane remained plagued
with chronic health problems throughout her childhood and
adolescence. These health issues continued into the college
years where she found herself hospitalized for approximately
two months before her 19th birthday. In order to insure
her own survival, Jane began a passionate lifelong study
of alternative approaches to health and the possible/probable
causes of chronic illnesses, reading extensively and studying
about diet, nutrition, hidden chemicals and additives in
the food supply. Jane’s search for ultimate health
also brought her to study the healing arts including psychic
healing, Reiki and shamanism (Huna). Jane’s university
studies were geared toward engineering and later a degree
in Fine Arts from Florida Atlantic University. Jane has
served on many non-profit boards serving as president,
secretary and also as an active board member. A lifelong
environmentalist and activist have had her organizing and
contributing for other non-profits as well. Her associations
have included Sierra Club, Greenpeace, UNICEF, UUA, Plan
USA, Results, One, Public Television, Amnesty International,
American Freedom from Hunger Foundation, ZPG, Noetic Sciences & The
World Future Society. Jane founded Visionary Alternatives
in January of 1998 to come to the aid of a dear friend
that was dying of cancer. Inspired by her friend, she built
a non-profit organization that would allow not only her
friend, but also many more individuals the choice of alternative
therapies for critical illnesses when personal funding
would have been otherwise prohibitive.
Samuel Snyder, DO, Graduate of Princeton University and
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is Board
Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology, a Fellow
of the American College of Physicians, The American College
of Osteopathic Internists, and the American Society of
Nephrology. Dr. Snyder is the Chairman of the Department
of Internal Medicine at Nova Southeastern University's
College of Osteopathic Medicine. His work has been published
in numerous scientific journals.
Ms. Leila Gray graduated from University of Maryland in
Psychology and received her MA from FAU in Public and Business
Administration. She has served as an administrator with
the public housing authority, and as deputy director in
Washington D.C., through grant monies, where she was responsible
for training educators and others about dealing with people
who had severe emotional problems. Leila was the founder
of several non-profit organizations such as the Broward
Trust for Historic Preservation, The Local Civic Association
and co-founder of VAI. She also served on the board for
a number of non-profit organizations for organizations
based in South Florida.
Board of Advisors:
Dr. Edgar Mitchell: On January 31, 1971, Navy Captain
Dr. Edgar Mitchell embarked on a journey into outer space
that resulted in becoming the sixth man to walk on the
moon. The Apollo 14 mission was NASA's third manned lunar
landing. This historic journey ended safely nine days later
on February 9, 1971. Scientist, test pilot, naval officer,
astronaut, entrepreneur, author and lecturer, Dr. Mitchell's
extraordinary career personifies humankind's eternal thrust
to widen its horizons as well as its inner soul. His academic
background includes a Bachelor of Science in Industrial
Management from Carnegie Mellon University, a Bachelor
of Science from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and
a Doctor of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from
MIT. In addition he has received honorary doctorates in
engineering from New Mexico State University, the University
of Akron, Carnegie Mellon University and a ScD from Embry-Riddle
University. Dr. Mitchell has received many awards and honors
including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the USN Distinguished
Medal and three NASA Group Achievement Awards. He was inducted
to the Space Hall of Fame in 1979 and the Astronaut Hall
of Fame in 1998. After retiring from the Navy in 1972,
Dr. Mitchell founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences to
sponsor research into the nature of consciousness as it
relates to cosmology and causality. In 1984, he was a co-founder
of the Association of Space Explorers, an international
organization of those who have experienced space travel.
He is the author of "Psychic Exploration," 1974, "The
Way of the Explorer," 1996, (revised edition, 2001)
as well as dozens of articles in both professional and
popular periodicals. He has devoted the last 30 years to
studying human consciousness and psychic and paranormal
phenomena in the search for a common ground between science
and spirit.
John M. Sortino, M.D., Specializing in Anti-Aging /Longevity
Medicine and Aesthetic Mesotherapy. Dr. Sortino received
his Medical Degree at the University of Rome, Italy in
1983. He was licensed in New York, 1987 and in Florida,
1988. Dr. Sortino has practiced Internal Medicine in
Pompano Beach, FL for 16 years, specializing in Anti-Aging/Longevity
Medicine since 2000. Having a passion for teaching, Dr.
Sortino serves a Professorship at Nova University making
grand rounds with medical students at North Broward Hospital.
Dr. Sortino has received numerous honors, awards and
scholarships for his work as a Research Chemist and has
been published many times for his work in Obstetric Anesthesia.
Dr. Sortino is a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging
Medicine (A4M), American Society of Aesthetic Medicine
(ASAM), and American College of Physicians.
Laurence Gartel, (from Wikpedia) is considered a pioneer
of Digital Art. His work has been exhibited at the Museum
of Modern Art, Joan Whitney Payson Museum, Long Beach
Museum of Art, Princeton Art Museum, PS 1, Norton Museum
and in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution's
Museum of American History and the Bibliotheque Nationale.
Born and raised in New York City, Gartel had the opportunity
to teach Andy Warhol how to use the Amiga Computer, went
to School of Visual Arts, with fellow art student, graffiti
artist Keith Haring, where he earned his BFA degree majoring
in Graphics, and started his electronic career working
side by side with Nam June Paik at Media Study/Buffalo
in upstate New York. Gartel had many associations with
musicians such as Debbie Harry (Blondie) Sid Vicious
(Sex Pistols), Stiv Bators (Dead Boys) Johnny Thunders
(New York Dolls), Ace Frehley (Kiss) and Wendy O Williams
(Plasmatics). Gartel has created artwork for such Pop
Culture stars such as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.
One of Gartel's most memorable campaigns was the one
he designed for Absolut Vodka in 1990. These ads are
considered to be the first digital art ads. His biography
is included in "Who's Who," "Who's Who
in the East," "Who's Who in America," "Who's
Who in American Art," and "Who's Who in the
World."
Bob Staretz, Electrical Engineer brings very strong business,
technical and managerial skills to the board of Visionary
Alternatives, Inc. He holds a BS in electrical engineering
from Tufts University and a Master of Science in electrical
engineering from Ohio State University. During his professional
career Bob has held various technical and management positions
in High Tech industry including positions at some of this
nation’s most prestigious research facilities such
as Bell Laboratories, GTE Laboratories and Racal Datacom.
He was a co-owner and Vice President of Research & Development
for Auto Source Marketing, a marketing and market research
firm specializing in the automotive industry. As Associate
Vice President, he founded and ran a networking and systems
integration consultancy for Vibren Technologies (an NEC
company). Bob has been associated with several professional
organizations, such as the Institute of Electrical and
Electronic Engineers (IEEE), The World Future Society and
the Institute of Noetic Sciences. These organizations are
aimed at raising awareness and understanding the implications
of technology and its broader impact on society.
Gary Vandy, Graduated University of Miami..1973 with degrees
in Psychology and Music with a minor in Philosophy. He
was the Chief Sound engineer owner Location Sound Recording

He has well over 100 albums of experience with over 30
receiving gold and platinum awards along with countless
television and commercial and movie soundtracks. Voting
member of Naras (Grammy Organization) and the Audio Engineering
Society.
Layna Fischer, Editor/Publisher of a business book series.
She was the senior editor of a leading computer publication
for four years and has been involved in international computer
journalism and publishing for over 18 years. Ms. Fischer
was a founding director of the United States Computer Press
Association in 1985. Her experiences in the computer industry
include being the president and CEO of a multi-million
dollar high-tech export company for seven years, during
which time she also founded an offshore distribution company.
She presently lives between South Florida and South Africa.
Rachel Tobal, Anthropologist & Writer. Graduate of
Florida Atlantic University and Simons Rock of Bard College
in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. She has done extensive
fieldwork in Salango, Ecuador; one year in Seoul, South
Korea; San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and six months in
Rotarua, New Zealand. She is presently the assistant to
the publisher of a company that publishes three magazines.
H.R.H. Prince Michel de Yougoslavie;
Prince Michel Of Yugoslavia, born in France, speaks French,
Italian, Spanish,
Portuguese and English. Graduated in Paris from the European
Business School. He worked for 15 years at Sotheby's International
Realty in Palm Beach as a real estate broker. Grandson
of King Umberto of Italy and Prince Paul of Yugoslavia,
he is related to all European Royal Families. Participates
in many charities work which help children.
Dr. David B. Ross has many
years of experience in higher education administration,
curriculum development, and classroom instruction. In his
present role as Program Professor at Nova Southeastern
University Fischler School of Education & Human Services,
he oversees the online course development and delivery
of the Parent Academy Program, instructs doctoral level
and undergraduate courses in education. At Palm Beach
Community College he launched alternative teacher certification
programs to help meet the state's critical teacher shortage.
He also provided extensive instructional design support
to the program. His academic experience has included responsibilities
as an adjunct professor of undergraduate and graduate courses
in education and social sciences at Palm Beach Community
College, Florida Atlantic University, Florida Metropolitan
University, and Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Ross
earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Specialist
in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Adult Education,
and a Master of Justice Policy Management with a Professional
Certificate in Public Administration at Florida Atlantic
University. He earned his B.S. in Computer Science at Northern
Illinois University. He also is frequently asked to speak
at leadership and team building seminars across the country.
David is the Provincial Professional Development Chair
(curriculum development) for Delta Sigma Pi, a Professional
Business Fraternity with over 200,000 active members.
